Las Animas

Las animas in Puerto Vallarta

This beach can easily become one of your favorites. It’s a small private paradise located southwest of Puerto Vallarta, about 30 minutes away from downtown.

To get there, you will have to venture to Boca de Tomatlán, where you will have to take a small water taxi or you can choose to hike, yes, you read that right, hike. Go to the area where the beach is and ask for the stairs that lead to the path to Las Animas.

It’s a perfect option for those who enjoy long walks, you will have to walk for more than 30 minutes to get there; the jungle fauna and the view towards the virgin beaches are worth it.

Quimixto

Quimixto in Puerto Vallarta

This beach is well known and visited by different kinds of tourists, for example: surfers, because competitions are organized here regularly. It is very close to Las Animas and Majahuitas beaches and to get there is also necessary to take a water taxi.

One of the most well-known attractions of this place, besides the beach, is a waterfall, which you will encounter on your way to the La Puerta river. the locals can easily tell you how to get to this beautiful gift of the nature.

The Caletas

Although Las Caletas is a small bay, it has an incredible  charm. In this place you are surrounded by a dreamy jungle paradise.

To get there you will have to get a tour since it is not a public beach, but includes several services, such as resting in hammocks and enjoying fresh seafood. Other services have extra costs, so evaluate your budget and try to visit this little heaven.

Playa Caballo

Playa Caballo in Puerto Vallarta

An almost virgin beach that is also located south of Puerto Vallarta, thirty minutes away from downtown and just a few minutes from Boca de Tomatlan. You will also need a water taxi to access this beach.

It’s a quiet place with gentle waves, which is perfect if you want to relax and enjoy the sea. There are some excursion options that involve kayaking and horseback riding around the beach.
